Social Impact

Initiatives we have supported

A core priority of Entain is to further our promotion of safer betting and gaming and our contributions to partner organisations support the delivery of the Group’s responsible gaming strategy. Our work with our partner organisations supports this strategy across three key focus areas.

We committed £5.5m over a five-year research collaboration with the Cambridge Health Alliance Division on Addiction (The Division) to develop a cutting-edge research programme that delivered real-world impact. The programme produced 15 peer-reviewed papers to provide new insights into the the causes and effects of problem gambling behaviours. We also utilised the research programme to enhance Entain's employee training programmes, and deliverd teach-in seminars for select Entain employees.

For more than 25 years, UNLV International Gaming Institute (IGI) has provided research-based solutions, cutting-edge insights, and executive education to the gaming industry, and houses several excellence initiatives, each addressing a vital need in global gaming research.

Additionally, we have supported EPIC to reach vulnerable populations and deliver awareness and harm minimisation programmes. In the US, we have supported EPIC to deliver awareness sessions via its NCAA Education and Awareness Programme that provides live, in-person workshops to 60 NCAA colleges and universities across the three divisions of NCAA college athletics. The programme educated student-athletes and staff about the increased risks of betting and gaming-related harm for elite athletes.

By 2024, YGAM and GamCare aim to work with over 13,400 practitioners and partner organisations, resulting in millions of young people aged 11-19 receiving at least one awareness session during their secondary or further education. This support is provided in addition to our GambleAware donations.
