SIA is Canada’s leading sports betting and gaming brand, and is the longest running sportsbook in North America.

First launched in 1997, the SIA platform is the most comprehensive sportsbook in the market, with its longstanding trading team offering more propositions than any other operator. It offers an array of bets for customers to enjoy, including ante-post, parlay and in-play products. In addition, the brand’s popular ‘Piñata pick’ product offers bettors the chance to enjoy enhanced odds on a randomly assigned team or selection.

Avid Gaming is the B2B provider which exclusively licenses the SIA trademark and provides proprietary online betting and gaming products and services to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) and its wholly owned socio-economic initiative, Mohawk Online. SIA is operated by Mohawk Online and offers its gaming products only to players in Canada.

Avid and Mohawk Online are formally partnered with the Canadian Football League (CFL) and sponsors a seasonal radio show, called Inside the Lines, which takes place every Sunday. The show is part of a partnership with Rogers Sportsnet, the most popular radio and broadcast network in Canada, which sees it host radio shows, advertisements and social media content as part of a four-year agreement.

At Entain we have sustainability at the core of our strategy, and Mohawk Online matches that passion. Mohawk Online prides itself on its leadership in corporate governance and responsible gaming in its markets. Since its inception, the SIA brand has always kept the customer at the heart of its operations, motivated by the belief that great customer service and care results in a sound business. Mohawk Online has proudly carried on that tradition.

Mohawk Online is licenced by the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission, widely recognized to be a pioneer in the regulation of online gaming, and by the Jersey Gaming Commission. Mohawk Online is also registered with the Jersey Financial Services Commission. Mohawk Online provides strict know-your-customer (KYC) checks, as well as tools and interventions to help keep players from harm. Mohawk Online’s focus on unrivalled player safety and service has led to the SIA brand having a customer satisfaction score of 90% and a high level of retention.

Mohawk Online

Mohawk Online is a socio-economic initiative, wholly owned by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke. Mohawk Online operations are grounded on Kahnawà:ke’s Indigenous right to conduct gaming within and from the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ken in accordance with its own laws and regulations. Kahnawà:ke’s Indigenous right can be reconciled with subsection 35(1) of the Canadian Constitution Act, 1982 and with the principles set out in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, endorsed by Canada in 2010.

A portion of Mohawk Online revenues are invested back into the community of Kahnawà:ke to provide essential funding for cultural and language programmes, schools, healthcare and other public services. Fifty per cent of Avid Gaming and Mohawk Online employees in Kahnawà:ke are Mohawk persons, and in 2020 Mohawk Online revenues played a vital role in Kahnawà:ke’s Covid-19 relief efforts by donating C$4m to projects supporting those most in need.

Mohawk Online has also donated to the Mohawk Immersion Adult Programme, a community initiative that aims to preserve and revitalise the Mohawk language. The programme has been active since 1985 and combats the reduction of local language use in the community and keeps this cultural heritage alive. In total, Mohawk Online has generated over C$34m in the past six years.

Investing in the communities where we operate is a key pillar of Entain’s sustainability strategy, We are therefore delighted to be supporting the Mohawk Online socio-economic initiative.

Entain’s acquisition was also welcomed by Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, Grand Chief of Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, who said: “Entain is a world class operator with a genuine desire to positively contribute to the communities in which it operates. This new partnership between Entain and the Mohawks of Kahnawà:ke is mutually beneficial and brings with it prime opportunity for bolstering our self-sufficiency through the continuing success of Mohawk Online and the Sports Interaction brand.”
